Hey Homie, here are 4 reasons I’m your next Marketing Manager

Hey Homie, (1).png

I don’t take Homie for the type of brand that wants a traditional, snoozefest of a cover letter from an applicant. Well, the good news for you is that I’m not your average applicant, therefore, you won’t be getting an average cover letter.

Instead, what you’ll be getting is a blog post telling you why you should hire me and why I want to work at Homie.

First things first, a proper salute. Ya know, to start things off right.

When I walk in that door first thing every morning, this is what you’ll get from me — a solid, happy salute. Because you deserve it. Not to worry, though, I’ll be fully clothed.

Now, let’s get the real reason we’re here, shall we?

#1 I have the experience you want and need

I’ve been using social media for years to increase brand awareness, engage audiences, and drive traffic to dedicated landing pages. At Homie, you don’t want somebody in charge of your social media who is boring and stiff, I’m fairly certain you want someone who is creative, witty, and strategic.

Yes, me!

#2 I speak fluent social media

Like Betty White, I too speak fluent social media. I work hard to find what my audience actually likes, then I create content for social media that matches their preferences while still promoting the brand.

#3 Disruption isn’t just a buzzword, it’s in my DNA

Disruption is in my DNA, but not the annoying kind. I’m talking disruptive innovation, you know, like what Homie is doing to the real estate market as I write and you read.

Yeah, that type of disruption.

Every product I’ve worked on has had the goal to be disruptive within its sphere. I’d like to continue that trend with Homie.

#4 I’m strategic and analytical

Remember Data from the Goonies? Of course, you do! Well, instead of carrying around a spring-loaded boxing glove in my jacket, I take a more strategic approach to getting the job done.

You see, I’m fond of using analytics and data (information, not the Goonies character, just to be clear) to drive further strategy for marketing initiatives.

Well, have I convinced you yet that I’m your guy? I sure hope so!

Signing off!

A New App to Play Around With

Periodically, while scrolling through the sea of content that appears on my social media feeds, I come across a sponsored post that is promoting a product.
In this case, I saw a post promoting an iPhone app, Lumyer.

Here’s a quick review of Lumyer

This picture of my daughter was magically enhanced to become something else.

This is what it became.

You’ll notice it became a video file. Well, that’s okay because I can still send it in a text and post in on Facebook or Instagram seemlessly.

There are myriad options for overlaying filters within the app. Oh, I did have to pay $1.99 to remove the watermark on my images / videos.
Try it out and have some fun.

What Central Park Looks Like Since Pokemon Go’s Release

Central Park pokemon

You’ve seen articles about it creeping into your social feeds. You may have even seen a few people in your neighborhood or populated areas holding their phones, walking about aimlessly.

This walk is different from the regular “text and walk” we’ve all grown accustomed to. This particular walk has Pokemon Go stamped on it.

Just check it out… Here’s Central Park in New York City.

Nintendo sure isn’t complaining, and neither are its stock holders. Market value for Nintendo has increased by $7.5 billion, according The Verge. Absolutely insane. This game is not only sweeping the nation, it’s becoming a phenomenon.

Hats off to Nintendo though, they’ve managed to create a game that successfully mixes reality with virtual reality. It’s getting people outside, walking around … but they’re all on their phones and not interacting much with other human beings. You can decide whether or not that’s good.

P.S. I read one account that states Pokemen Go has full access to read your Gmail. Just keep that in mind. Potential privacy concern.

Musical — and YouTube sensations — Peter Hollins and Lindsay Sterling, created this witty masterpiece.

You’ll see a lot of these floating around the web but this one is different because of the introduction and conclusion… You’ll see what I mean when you watch it.
